Oh, and can you guys help me choose between the PC-9F and PC-90? I would add the PC-A05FN but there's not enough airflow for me but still one of my most favorite cases. I <3 Lian Li.

PC-9F. Bottom mounted PSU + cable management holes. You could make it look pretty neat in the PC-90, but it'll take a decent amount of work.

PC-9F = 1
PC-90 = 1
PC-A05FN = 0

Are there any mid towers with a lot of 140mm fan spots and a back grill I can remove?

Hi Spykerv,

I noticed you have the V1020B which is a beautiful case. (I used to have a Mac Pro which the V1020B reminds me of.)
I will be putting the case I'm planning to purchase on my desk. I know the front wheels on the V1020B lock, but is there any reason (lock not secure, rolling, etc.) I would have to fear by putting this case on top of a desk?

Also, would an Antec 920 or Corsair H100 cooler fit in the case? (I'm thinking 'no' for the H100.)

I am considering cases from Lian-Li, Silverstone, Corsair, and Fractal. I definitely don't mind spending a little more for Lian-Li quality and aesthetic. cool.gif

Thanks!

I used to keep my 1020B on the table, the lock was very secure tool quite a bit of effort to move it. As long as your table isn't slanted I wouldn't worry, I moved that's why my computer is under a table. I believe a few pages back I posted my build log which should show you how it sits and good pictures of the interior layout that video reviews and Lian Lis page may not show. The wheels also have rubber linings or treads/tires, good for traction I suppose, cant tell. The only con is its not multi directional. If you want I can give more indept information and test the wheels out a bit more for you, as the only results I have are from it sitting on my desk for a month with lock on and nothing happening, no noticeable shift in movement or position of the case in that time span.

An antec 920 can be fitted in the bak or top exhaust, there is plenty of clearance headroom. You can indeed mount the h100 without modding, but it woul take up the front fans and would require you to remove the HDD bay. The solace is above the psu bay cover and mobo cover (that splits the case into compartments) you'll notice on the Lian li page that is designated as a secondary SSD and HDD holder, so you could keep 1 or HDD there and add a fan, an SSD really needs no such mounting.
The case is rated to be just slightly below the best air coolers out there, as in the Silverstone FT02 (CPU) and Haf X (GPU).

Great choice on a case btw, I myself was having a hard time justifying purchasing this or a:
LlA05
Ll 9F
Ll A71F
Ll x500fx
FRactal Design: R3 and arc midi
Nzxt H2
Cooler master ATCS 840
Silverstone RV01
Silverstone TJ07
Silverstone FT02

I'm glad I chanced on this case. It is worth every penny and it's one of the components I don't plan on changing for a very long time.

A good video review on YouTube by a british fellow I believe 1020R model, explains it has great clearance for cables, and believe me ive had headaches with my past cases about cable management and such: AZZA SOLANO 1000 and HAF 932.

Compared to those, this case is a dream. The sliding mobo tray is such a boon, you don't realize it till you buy it and after that you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. It cut my building time down quite a bit, and made sure I didnt mess up like I usually do.

Anyways hope I helped with the above. Good luck on your case choice, and considering you like the Mac pro design, you'll love the silver edition of the v1020, it's quite a beaut. The interior and exterior work very well together I sometimes wish I'd have purchased the silver myself. The black is sleek and powerful but not too ostentatious; the show offy of the family is the 1020R, quite the case with andozied black and red shell. It's that punch to anyone, that look at me now case. Not quite like Lian Li but I personally like its look, so three different colors to suit three different personalities all while being one of the best cases I've ever had the pleasure to work in, mind you though I've only worked on cooler master, antec, Azza, OEM cases, some nzxt and others, none of the ultra high end brands. But this jump was again worth every penny for such a great case, with such great features.

Spykerv,
Thanks for the info! My Internet is out due to a snowstorm in NJ, so I'm just replying on my phone. Yes, I've seen many reviews for the V1020 including the one you mentioned and every single review gave it high praise. I understand that not everyone can budget for it, but I'm still surprised I don't see more people with it! It is a gorgeous case I feel and is a top cooler as you mention. Plus, I think the V series is generally Lian Li's high end. I really like the Silverstone FT02, but it was a little too heavy and long for me. Your feedback has definitely helped me put the V1020 on my shortlist of cases. Overall, you must enjoy being one of the few on OCN with the V1020, especially with all the ubiquitous Coolermasters, Antecs, NZXTs, etc. I'm not really a fan of those designs. I prefer the "less is more" look of LL, Silverstone, corsair, fractal... It would be nice to see more Lian Li builds on OCN instead of the usual HAF, Phantom, etc builds.

EDIT: Spykerv, the Rep button isn't working on my phone browser.. I'll get it to you once my Internet is up. Thanks again! biggrin.gif

Absolutely love the interior of your box. Stupendous job. If it were mine, I wold have named it "THX-1138." smile.gif

The exterior of the case... not diggin' it, sorry. Looks like an old 1989 beige box.

I'm guessing you don't like the exteriors of any of the Lian Li's then. Almost all of them value understated elegance over plasticky bling.

Just sayin. smile.gif
