Final Build - Q6600 Gaming Rig - Page 5

I personally would only get the Abit board if I needed SLi. The Blood Iron board has some many features and I've heard they OC very well. I suggest you save some money and get the Blood Iron.

And I don't think 4gig of RAM is too much overkill. I am getting 4gig. My cousin works for M$ in a data center and he has 16gig in his workstation. Now that is overkill, but he said he can fill up 7gig no problem if he lets everything run.

Plus, like you said, it's only ~$50 more. 4gig FTW!

changed some things, about to order.

If I bought the 8800GT from NCIX.com would the mail in rebate apply to me since I'm a united states citizen?

I'd be saving like $10-15, could go to use somewhere else =)

Check out the HDD too. Read some mixed reviews but I'm interested to see how samsung HDD's are. If you know for a fact they aren't good, or have a better HDD in mind, post / link me please.

Just to be clear, the RAM you linked is 2x 1gb, not 2x 2gb. If you want 4gb, which I can argue you do (because of the video/digital picture editing), get 4x 1gb of the Ballistix. If you get 2x 2gb of any RAM with CAS4 timings, you'll be spending $115 or more to get it on the Egg... where you can get 4x 1gb Ballistix for pretty cheap on eBay, brand spankin new. I got 4x 1gb Ballistix Tracers on eBay for $130 shipped, and I know I have D9 chips to play with... like here or rather get it here used, but for $89 (Buy Now).

It better work in the US... as I have $160 in MIRs from NCIX. I read the fine print and didn't see anything about them not being valid outside of Canada. Plus, NCIX has a US store and a separate checkout for US customers. I would think if the MIRs aren't valid here, they would say something about it at checkout or on the rebates.

I am grabbing that card, but have no experience with Galaxy. Apparently it is a pretty good brand, and you have a good chance at getting that sweet version with the better HSF:
