Test 1, 800000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M172031 using 8K FFT length.
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
Torture Test ran 17 minutes 38 seconds - 1 errors, 0 warnings.
Execution halted.

It did last alot longer this time, but i noticed some weird things i hadn't seen before. The amount of memory being used at one point was steadily depleting, went from 95% to 70% then it went back up (not sure if this is normal). In addition to that, every now and then one of my cores would drop to 20%, not often, but it was happening.

Edit: All the above was with unlinked memory at stock timings @ 800 mhz
Alright try giving it 1.5 volts, sounds like you are on the brink of stability or crashing. For my E8400, I am cutting volts SOOO close, If I bring down Vcore ONE step, bam, BSOD left and right - Try setting your NB to 1.45 just for now untill you manage stability then bring that back down later (testing of course)

Another question, on the q6600 I have tried 4.0Ghz (500*8 @ 1.5v VID 1.300v) and it posts and all but windows doesn't start. If I want to get the 4.0Ghz do you reccomend I increase voltage (provided its safe for 24/7) or try another FSB speed?
You are absolutely fine up to 1.5 volts, 1.55 is "pushing it" but people still say it works

at 500 Bus you might need 1.45 on the NB to get stability so thats the only downside instead of running say 450*9, you get alot leess noise from the NB ***BTW YOUR MCP IS SOUTH BRIGE, NB HAS AN AUTO MONITOR SYSTEM *** SPP is NB

And for your NB Really take a decent powered 60mm fan and just use that, zip it to the heatsink and be done with that POS fan.... make sure you have it powered by the MCP fan header

What temps should I be concerned with? Even after I lapped the HS / CPU im still getting 65 degrees max on orthos @ 1.4875 V
post #1123 of 1607
thats abgout right for a tuniq. 71C on the Q6600 is the max. going over that wont throttle it but will decrease its lifespan.

You want to keep it around that area. I would say 68 MAX

The reason is because if it gets a tad bit hotter in your place or if you happen to do something to reduce airflow (Like a pet leans up on the computer) then you are screwed if you sit right on the border
Also the CPU can 'spike' when running certain codes that make it extreeemely hot

I have the room air conditioned, usually set it to 72 degrees.

Well after all the crap ive been through, evga(out of the kindness of their heart) sent me a repaired production 02 mobo.

I give it a month before it dies, maybe I should get with the mods to start a bet on when my mobo will die on me next and everyone can wager on which day it will die.

And no, I wont vmod it, Im just going to OC the hell out of while its out of the case.

When you get another board from RMA, sell it and move on. I've attached a copy of my history of problems with the eVGA 780i motherboard.

If I wasn't so lazy taking part my computer, I would be doing the same thing. RMA, sell it, take my loss, move on, keep my sanity, and never buy another NVIDIA based motherboard again.

I held off from saying never, but seriously, this is beyond ridiculous. I had more BSOD's from this one computer than the rest of my lifetime using computers.

Oh... In Everest its just simply called the MCP. Yay I should be fine then. Overclocking complete until I decide to go for better cooling.

The side panel fan cools the MCP and the GPU so I think I'll keep it. GPU idles at 39C whereas it used to at 50s. MCP used to idle @69C now it idles at 50C.

Thanks anyway!

I am completely tired of this BS.

So I get ready to set my comp and this is what I find.

This is thermal grease on the outside and inside of the CPU cover, as well as a little strand of thermal grease covering some of the outside pins.

All I know is, if this kills my CPU, I want my money back on the mobo as well as the CPU, as well as shipping costs for the all of the RMA's I have had to do, this should never have been sent to me like this and that just shows how well it was QC'ed before it left.

Going to try to clean the pins as best as I can and hope for the best.
