EVGA 780i Overclocking Guide - Page 122

its fine. set your motherboard fsb to 400, link and sync it. set the ram to 1T, the timings you will have to work at.

for that cpu, go with 8x or 9x multi (3.2 or 3.6 total) and your should be fine

link and sync at 400 will run the ram at exactly 800 Mhz. then you can tighten up the timings as best you can (try for 4-4-4-12)

Go Here.

The floppy method is the most preferred method, and if not, use the CD method.

If you are going to use the CD method, get this.
You can also get directions on that website.

Also, is there any RAM that doesn't play well with this board?

Last Q: I see some of you are rockin' your E8400s on this board. Anything I should know moving from X38/X48?
Stock chipset cooling is hopeless, you can get watercooling parts at Petrashop if your interested but most of us have just used a 60mm or 80mm on top of the metal block, I have a 60mm on the thing with a 120mm side panel fan blowing into that.

I used OCZ Platinum PC2-6400 and they didn't work so thats one set of RAM that fails with this board.

Good to hear.

well don't forget there is that 1% possibility that they release the FTW cooler as an aftermarket better.

Meh Ive decided against getting the FTW edition... Im just gonna WC my board and be done with spending money lol... I doubt I would get any performance increase by getting the FTW edition which is what matters

As it stands my NB fan is running 5k RPM 1.45V on SPP+1960 FSB is getting really tiresome on an open case

My 780i board is in transit, it's great to be able to read this thread to prepare for it. Thanks Robilar, great job! I would like to mention that the "HardOCP Review" link has changed to: http://www.guru3d.com/article/nvidia...i-review--xfx/ in case you want to update it.

I can't wait to get it up and running. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. If I have any questions, I know where to come.
