watercool the striker II formula?..... you do know its not the board with the inbuilt water cooling option yes? (Asus maximus formula SE and Asus P35 Blitz Formula do , this one doesnt)

AND lol i know i cant do sli and duel screen with my 8800gts which is why i have my trusty old 6600gt doing the duel screen in the 3rd slot ......

It's not? LOL now their naming convention has gone all crazy. Thought the previous formulas had the built in water cooling. I thought thats what those 2 holes in the NB sink were for.

Agreed, but I would suggest it's more likely to happen from within Windows.

heres a few snaps:

CPU PLL voltage.....any 1?

NB n SB run red hot but i read that in a few reviews so spoze no need to worry
Ill have a play OC'in it now n let yaal know how it goes.

PS rob can you add my name to the 780 owners list plzz ?

I added you Marc. Nice looking board.

I would pick up an antec spotcool for your nb. I am sort of the guru of asus 680i boards (my asus P5N32-E sticky in the motherboard section attests to that). I also owned the striker for several months.

One thing I can say definitively that the nvidia chipset boards need active cooling on at least the northbridge. Unless you plan to run stock you are just begging for crashes and instability with even the slightest OC.

Well this weekend, I plan on stripping my comp down. . .again. . .for the 5th time. . .and completely removing the mobo cooler, taking a full series of pics as I do a cleanup and reinstall, as well as finally getting my cpu temps back to normal.

Only downfall is that I have to drive an hour just to get some ceramique and some as5 and I don't even know if the place will have them.

Well, I am loving mine. I have figured out the source of my problems, it is that my E6600 is from a bad batch, might be the worse ever. It takes 1.5v to OC it to 3ghz, which just happens to be the OC wall for my CPU.

I am scraping up some money so I can get an E8400. Anyway, here are some pics of mine.

Robilar, I'm hurt that you would think that I borrowed, or even worse stole, the board that I'm using.
I agree about cooling the nb. My solution until the waterblocks come out was to hang an old 80mm fan that I had from the water lines to the cpu. Dropped the temps another 10 degrees from what the anemic solution EVGA had for it.

780i has been a good overclocker for me, 475 FSB no problem quad or dual core. here in action.

and a shot of the rad out back:

Messing around with case/components so, au natural at the moment
best 3dmark06 score (with e8400 vs my q6600 )

sorry, so excited all cpu-z the same, lol.

good board, needs MHz for good scaling in 3dmark (not really news). Has been very stable and easy to work with. came from an asus p5n32-e sli, which was nothing but a pain. out of 2 boards the best OC was 3.2 GHz on the same quad I can get 3.825 Air stable on this. not to mention MUCH higher fsb

anyway, good thread!
