I have hit 400 for a 4.0GHz clock - stable.

I believe that Robilar, Littlrat, Microman and others have done better.

Can you get your ram to run at 1T with those settings?

It will come down to the modules in use ... not sure on the 2Gb versions but I know the 1Gb ones do as they worked at 1T on both the DFI 680i and the Abit IP35-Pro... it is good to know that the 780i is still ok as well.

DDR850 4-3-3-8 1T - Blue Slots
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=309216

BW is significantly up from 2T even though it is running 50MHz less

You will need to check your modules to see what they can do and may also need adjust the SPP voltages to push the 1T.

ncsa, Thank you for posting that.

What are the upper limits for these 2 settings?

PCIe x16_3, MHz - 120
SSP<->MCP Ref Clock, MHZ - 250.0

I generally leave them at 101-105 / 201-205. I have pushed them further, but ignorance and fear of borking something keeps me down.

It will come down to the GPUs in use and the Motherboard makeup ... for some it is OK for others not, even for same kit... much like OC'ing.

PCIe speed can improve GPU access/transfers and the ref clock to MCP may affect RAID configs but I/O devices to memory could benefit ... really is a matter of trying to see what's best... for some reason I still have the old AMD clock of 1000 Hz .. hence 250x4 or 200x5 but yet to find a definitive write up on that.

Well this was odd.

Playing some COD4 today (and a different game last night). Twice last night the system locked up requiring a reboot.

Today during cod4 it crashed again. Reboot hung at start up. I was able to get into the bios. I clocked back the oc and rebooted. Then I got a system disk failure (hard drive?)

Then I powered off, checked the cables on the hdd booted and it was fine.

The oc I have been running 24/7 (that passed hours of orthos) was 3.2 (8x400) with tight ram timings.

I backed it down to 3 ghz and its stable but what would cause lockups and crashes?

My temps are excellent (cpu under load never exceeds 50C) and my mcp temps are around 52C

Odd thing is for the last week or two not a single crash (and I've played cod4 for several hours with my video cards overclocked).

I'm stumped guys, any suggestions?

P5N-T "Deluxe"

(just kidding)

Although I'm totally fine with the new 0802 bios.

I'm messing with a new Striker II Formula trying to get it to post with my
QX9650..

Posts ok with 0602 bios which sucks, but won't post with 0902...

E6850 posts ok with 0902.

More to come.

EDIT:

Rob, if you remember awhile back I mentioned that I tried oc'ing my 9650 on a friend's new XFX780i and was much less than impressed. During this "test", we experienced numerous freezes and lockups which according to my friend began to happen with his q6600 after a few days burn in. I also had problems with an EVGA 680i board long ago, before I bought my P5N32-E. The components used for power regulation on the reference boards is considered by some to be less than high quality. This is the main reason why I'm so insistant on the Asus boards for their 8 phase power regulation and solid caps.

Is this important?? I don't know for sure. You might try monitoring (logging) your cpu volts with OCCT to see if things are nice and smooth. If not, you may want to rma the board.

Good luck, these things are Soooo anoying.

Sounds as if over a period of time something is beginning to fail. Did you try increasing individual voltages yet or have you had time?
