EVGA 780i Overclocking Guide - Page 65

Anyone experience unexpected shutdown at 1600FSB 3.6Ghz?
mine will automatic shut off at 1600FSB 3.6ghz after running prime for 2hrs or hard gaming for 3hrs. no BOSD just shut off(cpu temp were only 51-53c), and if I try to start it up again, sometimes it will spin a little then shut off again, have to wait for like 1min before it can boot up.
Cpu Vcore at 1.489 FSB 1.4v memory 2.2 , I left the rest voltage (spp mcp etc) on auto.

This problem will go away if I run FSB 1400 and 3.15ghz, it is solid stable at this setting.

Do you think the FSB gets too hot? I tried 1600FSB and 3.2ghz, it will just shut down like when I am running 3.6.

Shutdown means something is to hot or your PSU is overloading.

Have you tried anything inbetween 1400-1600? What are your temps?

Viper John includes heat sinks for the MOSFETs.

I an leaning toward the Enzotech unit. Lighter and with less flow than the Evercool, it seems it has more metal over the chip. Although, somehow I image all of them are adequate.

Well I think you asus guys have the same pad issues we do, but they used cement on your mobo coolers, one guy had to use a screwdriver to pry the cooler off just to fix the problem.

yes 1400 rock solid (3.15ghz) 6hrs gaming 5hrs prime not a problem.

on 1600FSB test both 3.2 and 3.6ghz, 2-3hrs hard gaming will result the shutdown and cpu temp were only 5Xc....

at 1400fsb voltage is still the same at 1.4v

If your FSB is 1600 then how are you testing at 3.2?
Just an FYI. One of the eVGA tech's in the eVGA forum just mentioned that P04 is incoming. Of course date wasn't specified. I hope it's soon.....like before Saturday, when my 30 days are up.
