Ok, i need a little help with this one as its driving me nuts!!!!
Have had my XFX 780i for a few weeks now and it is running beautifully with my quad clocked at 3.2Ghz 24/7 and have had it up to 3.6 stable. It is all set up as stated in my sig below.
I just ran 3dmark06 and noticed that it says i only have 1.5gb of RAM when infact i have 2GB, have also just looked in the windows xp system properties and task manager and it says that i only have 1.5gb of RAM Total. But cpu-z and pcwizard08, the bios and post screen and most other progs say that i have the full 2GB.
Whats going on, does this mean that i only have 1.5gb available and that 500mb is being used for something else? Has anyone else with a 780i board noticed this?
How do i solve it? I cant afford another 2Gb and 64Bit vista to get 4GB working and reconised.
Thanks

Have added a screenie of windows xp system info and task manager showing 1.5gb and cpu-z which shows 2gb.

Have you ever ran 3dmark06 before and it use to say 2 gig and now it says 1.5? If not, some people have these issues on these motherboards, I think its because they are more new. I think I had a program or two that did the same thing, until the programs were updated.

If it is correct in the bios, then try going into the control panel, and then sysem, if it lists 2 gigs, then youre fine.

Same for all you other helpful 780i owners. Just curious how widespread this crappy video bug problem is. It has me ready to throw my new rig out the damned window...
Hi all,

It seems to be in all 780i chipsets. I thought it was my P5N-T but not so.
According to Asus forums its the current Nvidia drivers on the 780i chipsets.

Try uninstalling display drivers and watching vids with just the codecs. I have not tried myself but it makes sense.

RoadRashed, if you dont mind, could you post your Bios settings for your E8400 overclock please?

I have a E8500 and am having a spot of bother trying to OC it.

Thanks

I'll post some pictures when I get home, but at this point I don't have anything fancy going on. I just have all the voltages set to Auto, and bumped the FSB to 1600. I don't have the RAM linked or synced and have it set at 1066. I gave up on trying to get much more out of my setup for now so it's back to the basic 3.6ghz setup.

Like I said, nothing fancy. After experiencing one of those pain in the ass video corruption bugs last week my bios reset itself for some reason. I didn't bother resetting everything I had tweaked in the past. Just changed the FSB. I still have most of the stuff that people say to disable running (like Speedstep). I did disable all the spreadspectrum stuff, just didn't bother with the other things:

Thanks for the pics,

I managed to get my E8500 stable at 3681GHz and 1066 Mem by just upping the FSB to 388 and touching nothing else.

It refuses to go to 400 FSB no matter what I do. Seems it needs a bios update..

Thanks again, lets hope the VLC player works..

So I am sending my mobo off today for RMA and while geting ready to put it in the plastic box, I noticed that there are just super-thin dried puddles of what I could only assume to be excess flux.

I am embarrassed to say I didnt notice this when I took pics for my mobo cooler removal guide, but you can only see them when you have the light at the correct angle.

In the correct light, it seems like it something to do with whatever machine/hand-tool is used to place the very large plastic connectors on the mobo, PCI and ram. But in other areas it just looked like random areas got coated in flux.

In the areas around the large plastic connectors, I could barely remove any of the substance with rubbing alcohol, but on other areas of the mobo, the alcohol would just smear it, so now I don't know if it is flux.

I would post pictures, but the camera I was using just wasnt cutting it with the flash on/off.

I just figured anyone having problems should just take note of this.
