New build for sister into graphic design - Page 2

I would suggest the following:
-change mobo to Abit IP35-E/DFI Blood Iron ($90/$108 @ newegg)
-change cooler to AC 7 ($20 @ newegg)
-2 x 2Gb OCZ Platinum DDR2-800 ($84 after MIR @ newegg)
-LiteOn OEM DVD burner ($33 @ newegg)
-ATI 3850--512 ($200 @ newegg)
Now for the reasons:
-Pro mobo would be overkill for this system.
-AC 7 works almost as well as Zalman for $20 less.
-Graphics programs work best with lots of RAM.
-Unless you need the software, OEM is the way to go.
-Supports HD (for larger screen) --256 for less $$.
Also, you can use this as an opportunity to upgrade your system with a better videocard. She gets the old one and you get the new one. Two harddrives in RAID 1 would be nice so that she always has a back-up (you might need to downgrade size just a little to stay on budget.)
All in all, you have a lucky sister and a nice looking build in the works. Don't forget, she's probably going to need a drawing tablet too.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

ok I may be a fanboy or maybe ive just had good luck with nvidia cards but i would like to stick with something in the nvidia line. You think i should stay with the stock cooler on the cpu or get a cheaper one perhaps? Ive looked at alot of the mb suggestions and im thinking either e ip35 or the gigabyte p35 ds3l maybe the asus p5n32. She wont be using the blood iron to its full potential and simple is best imo for her.

if no overclocking the stock is fine, but the Tuniq for the same price handles the quads heat better than the zalman

Ok cool i updated the parts list. Raid seems easy enough to set up from what ive read. She will probably backup her work on an external drive she already has. With raid0 i can increase speed of two internal drives though right? Should i go with two of the smaller deskstars or is there a better suggestion for some HDs?

I personally prefer the Seagate 7200.10 drives, but supposedly the Western Digital AAKS are faster. Raid 0 gives me double the performance.

Here are my hd's:

and Raid 0:

So 8600GT/GTS is his best choice.
