A little help please on dual channel

Thread Starter
Ok first off I'm a little clueless when it comes to RAM I'm guessing I want my 2 x 1gb DDR2 sticks to run in dual channel ?

Now my mobo manual tells me this

So for my RAM to work to it's best I guess I put 1 stick in A1 & 1 stick in B1 (they're colour coded yellow with the 2's being black)

Pic of my mobo

So install 1 stick in each of the yellow blocks right ?

Yes. Use 1 stick in yellow, other in the other yellow (A1, B1) or one stick in black and other in black (A2, B2) Either way is exactly the same. Thats how you run dual Chanel, each side of memory slots is a channel.
Meh.

Ok thanks unfortunately I can't run dual channel as the place I ordered my parts from has decided to send me only 1 stick of ram!

Supposed to be this GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit but I opened the box and it's only got 1 x 1g stick in it

What a ripoff. I ordered a nice 1GB stick of some PC5300 G.skill (Thought it was nice back in the day when I built my first rig ) and when I opened the box, it was some cheap looking crap with a PLASTIC heatspreader with tribal engravings into the plastic lmao. Nothing like the metal orange heatspreaders that it showed in the description. I was actually laughing though because they sent me something that looked 100% different than what I ordered, didnt even have a G.skill sticker on it, so I didnt even know what the hell it was haha.

Oh I just noticed, how do you like that hitachi HD? I found a 400GB hitachi for $69 shipped on Newegg, and im in desperate need of a file saving drive, so I was just wondering from a users point of view, how you like hitachi so far. Ive owned a 160GB hitachi before, But it'd be nice to hear from someone with the same drive before I order it.
Meh.

I don't know about the HD yet as I've not finished building it, the missing stick of RAM is 2 to 3 day setback for me now lol

The RAM is what I ordered except it's only half of what I ordered lol does look nice though it's orange heatspreader. Have to phone them in the morning and see if they can mail me the other stick and in the meantime just install the rest of parts & wait till I can fit both sticks of RAM inside it. Quite pee'd off at the mo though as I checked all the boxes where right on the order and you never really think to look inside them to make sure all the parts are there too. Was looking forward to having the rig up & running by tonight as well
