i just noticed this thread and figured id put my 2 cents in. i took a chance and i bought mine back before the holidays from NCIX and recieved the Zalman-esque version with no ramsinks. being the crazy zealous person i am i immediately jumped the voltage up to the highest (i take it it's 1.3). i have hit 775/1800/1000 no problem and never went above 67C even under the highest stress. the fan on mine doesnt seem loud at all. i havent measured db or anything but its quiter than my TT fan.
i tried hitting 800 on the core but vista kept giving me a message saying that the drivers were failing so i take it i hit a wall but with that being said, i cant really see it really improving any real world games with a jump to 800 anyway.
as far as needing a lifetime warranty or whatever for a gcard, i never keep a card for over a year anyway. the way i see it if the card doesnt fail within the first 30 days (like my 2900 pro did
) it probably won't anytime soon.
this card is a fantastic buy for the price
. i don't regret my decision one bit. i have a great overclocking card that performs at reasonable temps, for me anyway, plus no need to spend extra dough on after market cooling, and all for a great price.
i would highly recommend this card to anyone.
i forgot to mention i never put any ramsinks on the card either
i finally hit 70C playing crysis
