If your PC has lots of RAM (1024MB or more) you can speed it up by turning off the pagefile. The pagefile is virtual memory which means some of your memory is kept on the hard drive. This works great for PCs that dont have much RAM but it is 40 times slower than just using the RAM. So if you have lots of RAM you can force Windows to keep all the memory on the RAM.
Heres how:
-Open the Start Menu and go to Control Panel
-Click on the System icon
-Select the Advanced tab
-Under Performance, click Settings
-Go to Advanced
-Under Virtual Memory, click Change
-Select No Paging File and then click Set
-Click OK in all the menus
-Restart
Windows will now keep all the memory on the RAM and will make your computer run faster. Just be careful not to let your memory go past the amount of RAM you have.
