How to: Get into my BIOS if I don't know the password? - Page 2

You can flash in a passworded bios, bypassing your 'uber-1337' trick of popping the battery.

Some Tech Support web-sites will not answer this question out of concern for helping thieves break into stolen laptops or unauthorized persons gaining access to computers they are locked out of.

The only reason I can see to "get into the BIOS" by guessing passwords is if the person trying to gain entry is trying to hide the evidence. Resetting the BIOS should disable the password.

erm...
I may be missing something here, but why not just download (or dig out from the under-stairs cupboard) KillCMOS?
It flags as a virus, obviously, but it works just fine.
