DVI ports can carry audio, My MSI 8600gt does sound through the dvi plug. However, I don't think its capable of HDCP playback via PC blu-ray or HD-DVD drive, although anydvd will sort that out.
If you get an msi card make sure it has the mazarine dvi ports, as thats the only series that has audio, the box even says that with a dvi to hdmi adaptor (available separately) you can get audio down the hdmi cable.

My bad and good to know. It would probably take me a while to find the link where I read DVI only worked for digital video. Maybe it was an older article (Pre newer video cards) or maybe was only talking about HDTV's. Anyway, sorry for the bad info and thanks for the good.

DVI ports cannot carry audio per original specs. ATI just modded one to do so. Not all the data pins are used for Dual-Linked DVI so they use them for audio. I can't find the pinout for it though.

HDCP is just a type of encryption of the data signal. It has nothing to do with the connector itself. Those cards can do HDCP playback fine.
