Our Carpentry class (we have Tech Theatre or whatever which just builds sets and stuff, woodshop, and then Carpentry ...) has a few of those.

Half them are missing the key making them useless as far as the safety goes, but they're so easy to use compared to the other ones. I like 'em.

Only an idiot would cut them self on a tablesaw. CD's probably done enough work on the tablesaw to know how to use it properly

Imagine what they said to those demo people...

"Here, stick your hand in that table saw, go on, it wont hurt..."

Not true freak accidents can happen when i was in shop class a dude was using the grinder and sliped up for a sec and took his entire thumb to the bone.

There's a HUGE difference between a kid in a shop class, and people who work on this kinda stuff for years.

I mean, if you're working while you're tired or something, I could see accidents happening, but you're not even supposed to use your hands to push objects toward the blade, there's tools that you're (SUPPOSED) to use that prevent accidents from happening.

And I bet you use a table saw DAILY am I right?

All it takes is a knot in the wood sometimes to give a hella hard kickback....but it's not like I'm talking from experience or anything...

My Grandfather, a good carpenter, mainly furniture, hand spun amish woodwork. He lost 4 of his fingers in an accident, he is left handed, which really helps him cope day - to - day but its not his lack of experience or anything that caused it, its simply an accident. It can't be undone, and now hes out of work, and living off of pensions, his wife has to work more, to make up for it. Really that sucks, this invention, is there to help people, like my grandfather.

Well, time actually rated it as one of the best inventions

http://www.time.com/time/2006/techgu...ns/safety.html

The only thing I'd be worried about now is how often "false saves" occur. Since it does require you to replace the blade and brake mechanism, if it gets stopped falsely, it'd be a huge pain in the ass.
