Some similiar terms you'll hear are single-stage and cascade, it's hard to explain. I'm sure someone else can explain it a bit better.

that is correct a gas is compressed then goes through a condensor to cool it and when it gets to the cpu it evaporates taking away the heat with and getting subzero temps tyenit goes back to the compressor to start again, but it is not for the faint hearted as the dangers of blowing something through not insulating properly are always there

Not necesarily true, a basic system works like a refrigerator, but sized to a load and tuned for the lowest temperatures. Insulating scares many people, but its very simple and all you have to do is create an air tight seal. Really quite easy wth all the mounting kits with precut insulation stuffs toda.y
