Creative Software Uninstall Problem
*After several people have encountered this problem uninstalling creative software or drivers, I decided to post my solution so that it may help anyone else with the same problem. First, disable UAC via msconfig. Next, uninstall anything made by "creative" that you can, by using add/remove programs. Next, remove any start up entries with "creative" as a tag by using MSCONFIG. DO THIS IN ORDER.
Launch regedit, and remove any of the following:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE\\Creative Tech
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Creative Tech
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Con tro l l\\Creative Tech
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\ASIO
Now, remove these files:
C:\\Windows\\System32\\BMX*.rfx
C:\\Windows\\System32\\Data
C:\\Windows\\SysWOW64\\Data (<<< only in 64bit)
C:\\Windows\\{*.BAK
C:\\Windows\\{*.CDF (<<<< to remove this file, you must run the following CMD prompts as admin; note spacing, and the use of both / and \\):
1: takeown /f C:\\Windows\\*.CDF
2: cacls C:\\Windows\\*.CDF /G USER:F ("user" is your logon name... not in Italics)
Keep removing:
C:\\Windows\\CTDCRES.DLL
C:\\Windows\\System32\\cttele32.dll
C:\\Windows\\System32\\drivers\\CTOSS2K.SYS
C:\\Windows\\System32\\drivers\\CTSFM2K.SYS
C:\\Program Files\\Creative (<<< delete the entire folder)
C:\\Windows\\CTXFIRES.DLL
C:\\Windows\\CTPRES.DLL
C:\\Windows\\Updreg.exe
Now, open windows explorer and delete any files similar to
"{00000005-00000000-00000002-00001102-00000004-20021102}.BAK" or
"{00000005-00000000-00000002-00001102-00000004-20021102}.CDF"
Restart!

Video drivers? Those error codes indicate a problem with your video card setup.
You may need to also reinstall your mobo drivers, to negate the damage from M$ updates.

ok well - always knew there was a problem with Nvidia on my system due to lock ups prior to this huge stink.
But - I still dont think thats the problem.
I think Im booting successfully now with 1GB as Im currently in CHKDSK on a normal boot with no driver enforcement so I can install mobo drivers, update the BIOS (the newest bios version adds support for Creative X-Fi, go figure), and fix up the registry a bit.
But yeah - nothing to do with Creative up to now. Since my reinstallation - not a single driver has touched my OS.
But - I still dont think thats the problem.
