3.20 on q6600 on xfx 680i LT sli - Page 15

That's amazingly tight. But for the purpose of trying to overclock, I'd suggest dropping them back down to 5-5-5-15. Tighter timings = more stress on the Northbridge which can make OC'ing hard.

I have a 680 LT board. Couldnt help you to much though.
that's what I stated. I also set the memory timigs to default (optimal) and unlinked the memory freq and set it to 800 so the memory settings wouldn't be a factor to worry about whilst overclocking the cpu.

didn't help

5-5-5-10-2T is good but i wouldnt say its amazingly tight? sounds bout right actually, considering most 800mhz PC6400 is 4-4-4-12-2T out of the box...

680i boards are great for ram oc. i had my ram stable @ 4-4-4-10-1T, 24/7 @ 924mhz. and that was only to keep it @ 1:1 ratio with my FSB.

do you have an aftermarket cooler or stock cooler on your CPU?

anyways for 2.8ghz, leave everything on auto and just change the FSB to like, 1244mhz QDR (which means 311mhz FSB) and make sure your multiplier is on 9x. if you leave it all default it will be 9x anyway.
