To answer the initial question; you'll notice in gaming, but that solely depends on the videocard. If you're videocard is bottlenecking you at 2.4Ghz then you won't see a difference in gaming between 2.4Ghz or 3Ghz or 3.6Ghz for that matter.

But if you're videocard isn't bottlenecking but your CPU is then overclocking will give you somewhat more frames. In normal use... I can't tell much between the difference of 2.4Ghz or 3Ghz, but I don't do massive Multithreading programs. I do photoshop occasionally and that stuff... But I the stuff I doesn't even take a second to process... So upping the Mhz with 600 won't really change a thing for me.

In general I even run 1.6Ghz (6*266.67) since in normal everyday use such as internetting I really don't need any more. And it saves me some watts on the electricity bills ^^

So in other words there probably wouldn't be any real benefit if I OC'd from 2.4 to 3.0. I really appreciate you guys replying to my questions and I appreciate the help

I have one other question. I'm curious about Vista and want to install the x64 version, but I have read some horror stories and was wondering if Vista if worth installing or should I just stick to xp?

When I'm buying a second HDD I'll be running Fedora from that, so either way it works for gaming and for the rest I don't care much.

actually with that video card, i'd say there is something to benefit ay. that video card you have there is a monster, and more CPU power couldnt hurt. i say you should definitely try for the 3ghz mark.

as for Vista x64, i've been running it for almost a year, no problems. unless you have some really old, out-dated hardware like an old printer or something, or an old wireless network card, which might not be Vista 64 compatible, i'd say go for it definitely. its so much better than XP imo.

the only issue i had, was my old Netgear wireless network card wasnt compatible, so just got a new one, no big deal.

Ok, this is nice. In the Bios, if I set 1.6 Vcore I get 1.56 in the OS... And that drops to a massive 1.506 under 100% load small FFT's in place. The problem here was, I can't put a higher voltage then that in the bios... But I found myself a trick. I downloaded Ntune, installed rebooted and surprisingly, it lets me put the Vcore somewhere up to 2 volts... So I immediatly had set it to roundabout 1.66 Vcore which got me a 1.61 on CPU-z.

Then I rebooted again, had set 400*9 and the voltage to 1.6 (because the Ntune doesn't work from the start of a boot). That made me possible to boot in the OS, then I opened Ntune, upped that voltage to 1.66. Ran Prime95 small FFT's in place for somewhere around 3 and a half hours and then I felt like I had a better use for my computer...

Your chip's not going to last long on 1.6-1.7 volts.

dude, i would not do that ay.

if you have to put 1.5v + into your CPU, just let it go man. its not worth it. you'll kill that chip.

1.66v is insane.
