That was a huge pain in the ass, the taking off the fan part wasn't that much of a problem. But getting it back on, I hate those special fan brackets for the Scythe Infinity.

But I had fun, though I only used a HB pencil (Sorry, I didn't have anything else but those HB pencils I stole from school a a few years ago). I made a visible line and then turned it on (without the fan on it). I had set 1.4 in the bios, it showed me 1.36, which wasn't an improvement. So I turned it off again, started colouring in some more. Started the computer again, showed me 1.36... So I thought... wth and I left it on, started colouring and saw the voltage slowly go to 1.37, then slowly to 1.38. After that I could pencil all I want but it wouldn't get any higher, my guess is that the HB is still too much Ohm's to call it a real pencil mod

Though the drop from Bios to OS is 0.024 between idle and load is now just 0.008, which to me... Is fine. Perhaps in the future when I forgot how irritating it is to put the fan back on I'll get a 2B pencil to throw in another line but mèh... It works

try use auto first, if you run with auto voltage stable, you can see the point where you should set your voltage
for example i use auto. in cpuz it says 1.440
it ran stable and then i lower the voltage to 1.432 (still stable)
i lower again to 1.425 (still stable)
so, if i lower again like 1.417 my system wont boot.
so my voltage would be 1.425.
i set my vcore to 1.425 not in auto
i think this is the easiest way to set voltage.
hope that works

LOL nice work. i hate difficult fans ay.

anyways yeah i'd say the reason why your results werent as good as they should be is due to the pencil. the reason your supposed to use a 2B pencil is because of the graphite content within the pencil.

by colouring in that resistor, well by connecting those 2 points on the resistor, the current is passing through the graphite found in the pencil. HB obviously isnt strong enough, but at least it worked a bit, those results are fine.

I do understand that the more grafite there is in a pencil, the better it conducts electricity. We used to use 6B for massive tests that were checked by computer rather then by human. I'll get one this afternoon and do the whole ****job again

I should get a watercooling set as well... And I can for very cheap but... mèh... I have to see what I'll do (taking a shower and then I'll find a 2B pencil somewhere).

EDIT: first gone to the barber to get my hair shortened.

EDITEDIT: Did it, with the 2B pencil, still ain't getting the Bios set 1.4v in the OS. I set 1.4v in the OS, it does 1.384 in the OS. Thoug now I have to say; it does stay exactly that voltage under load 100% Small FFT in place Prime95 load.

Getting a 6B pencil tomorrow, I'll see what it does when I have the Bios set on 1.4 + pencil mod so it does 1.4 in the OS as well. I'm not sure if I want it to go up under load... Though it is handy since I can then put it a bit lower since it goes higher automatically when under load...

set bios to auto and then from that make slight changes
post #229 of 313
I fully pencilled in BOTH places that might have done the trick, this is the max that will flow through a 2B. And if I put 1.4 manually or if the Bios does it automatically, is tehre a difference?

The Source for the pics
I tried a 6B pencil, I don't get any higher then 1.3 in the bios = 1.28 in the OS. (or 1.4 = 1.376). Though my idle and load Vcores are the same now, I should be good. Though I'd like it to be what I'm setting in the bios. So I have some questions on the pic.

I have pencilled the two red dots under the CPU fan, I also pencilled the one left to that since the other picture said that the one I pencilled is an alternative. And they both did their jobs fine. But the other one, 50K Vr to Ground... To ground?
