if one of those big boys kicked you, you'd be busted wide open and probably disembowled. no joke.

they are fairly docile creatures though.

still want one?

Hell yeah I want one, but I need something that doesn't grow taller than 5 feet, my ceilings aren't that high. I'll train it to be a "House Guard" or something....

well then my friend, you seem to be in the market for the common Red Kangaroo.

not as ferocious as a drop bear, but plenty cute, and deadly to the unsuspecting prowler.

buy 2 and get a Joey, free!

haha.

The best overclock I have found with this board and the Q6600 is 3.4Ghz after flashing with the P31 bios you guys recommended.

I had to drop the multiplier to 8 and set the QDR to 1700 and DDR to 850 with the core voltage at just under 1.44 and the pencil mod.

95% of the time it boots first time but on occasions it needs to be restarted before kicking into windows. Once its in then never a problem.

Try as I might I can't hit 3.6Ghz reliably. The other day I went back to a nine multiplier with QDR at 1600 and DDR at 800 and upped the core to 1.45. Managed to boot an complete a 3D Mark test but when I rebooted it wouldn't go back into windows. Upping and downing the voltage made no difference either so I went back to 3.4Ghz.

When I'm in 3.4Ghz it idles around 45 degrees and under load it goes to as much as 61 degrees.

I'd like to hit a stable 3.6Ghz but think it may just be beyond me.

good work man. as we said, all chips and boards are different, even if they are the same. you might find your board wont accept 3.6ghz no matter what.

did you try my little trick by any chance, by setting the FSB speed a little different to what you want?

like for example, if you're using an 8x multi and want 3.6ghz, which is obviously 1800mhz, and it wont boot or hold stable, maybe try 1799, or 1801, 1802 etc.

sometimes FSB walls or holes have this effect. it sounds weird, i know, but it does work for the lucky ones.

No luck I'm afraid. I think 3.4Ghz is just about the limit of my board. Still, can't be too unhappy with that.

3.4Ghz should be good enough anyhows
I'll try out the strange FSB's later on.

Though I've found a problem, if I have the CPU overclocked I can't use sleep mode properly. I put it in sleep mode, it basically "turns off" (no sound anymore). Then if I push the on button or a key on the keyboard it turns on again, I login and then it loads the desktop... But if I try to open something (like my browser) it just gets a blue screen.

So mostly I just run at stock clocks undervolted because I can't be arsed to turn it off completely and boot it up completely everytime (even though, it boots in like 20 to 25 seconds... Which are VITAL to me )

And your board will most likely hold you back, 680i boards have problems ocing quads to higher clocks
