personally, if i were you, i would not put a 45nm chip on that board, and expect good OC results. we all found out how hard it was for the Q6600. newer tech is only gonna make it harder. if you want a 45nm and wanna stay with nvidia chips, get a 780i board.
I agree with this. Yeah the board will support the chip at stock speeds but it probably won't OC it well. Especially with the LT version of the board, I have the same board and its pretty picky if ya ask me.

Is there any advantage in the P08 at all? I remember not having the voltage controls for everything sent me into fits when ocing on P06.
i have tried the po8 bios and i saw NO diffrence at all in any way shape or form. it did not help or mess up any overclock either

go back a few pages and get the P33 bios. I was able to get to 3.2GHz stable with our board with this bios and still to this day, but it took me some serious voltage, but my temps were under control.

HELP, I need info on how to create my own cd iso file for repairing my bios

like

Let me know if it's useful to you. Share it around.

BTW, I had to force the flash by calling AWD865.EXE /F
Otherwise, it just told me I had the wrong BIOS file.

Hey guys I think this post is very helpful I had the P8 xfx lt bios and I flashed it to the P31 Bios. I immediately seen an increase in stability. Im at 3.5ghz overclock at 1.42 v core for the cpu. Around 68 C on full load and stable. I was messing around with some settings and everytime I set it at 3.3 ghz it wouldnt boot, either bios p7 or p31, might be a fsb hole or something. Well im using a thermal electic cooler with 3.5 ghz. I am upgrading to water cooling next month I was wonder what should I be looking forward to in overclocks going from air to water. I have my sights set on 3.8ghz. what kind of settings should I use for this. I overclocked my cpu today on air to 3.6ghz with 9 and 8 multipliers and it BSOD or restart. Will water cooling fix this issue. my ram is synced right now with the 3.5 oc to keep it stable its around 780mhz timings are 5-4-4-15-t2 anything else causes errors. should I be satisified with 3.5 stable on air. if so what should I be going for on water? I think this board is very tempermental

The only thing I love about this board... It's incredible stability on a 1066mhz FSB and the possibility to hang a huge piece of iron of it to cool your CPU

(but seriously, 1.056v on a Q6600? I never even thought it could do this.)

Hey guys, haven't been here in a long time but here I am again with updates on my system.

I just happened to be browsing the XFX website today and noticed on their news page in "support central" that they released bios updates for my 680i LT. Well before I did anything I wanted to check this thread (which I had saved in my favorites) and sure enough you guys mentioned both bioses P08 and P33. I have been using P31 thanks to another user here who posted the P31 bootup ISO. P31 had made a huge difference in overclocking stability and more voltage options like everyone here said, but still had many FSB walls, and 3.2GHz was my most stable OC and that's what I've been running at for almost a year.

Well I just downloaded and installed P33, and WOW, I can FINALLY overclock PERFECTLY to 3.4GHz all the way up to 4.01 GHz. 4.01ghz took WAY too much voltage so I backed down of course. I'm currently at 3.44GHz and loving it. That is the number I have been trying to hit forever. At first my cpu was idling high around 50c-52c and under load was hitting 71c, which I couldn't understand. I then realized that the new bios reset my settings, and on resetting my settings, it reset my cpu fan to "auto" when I used to have it set to "100% speed" The reason my CPU was overheating is because the stupid auto feature was keeping my CPU fan at 800-900 RPMs vs 100% speed which is 3,100 RPMS. I have an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. Now since I reset my fan speed, now the cpu never goes above 60C.

I tested 3.6GHz for a bit and ran perfectly too, but still decided to go back down to 3.4GHz for now. I'm debating on whether to go up to 3.6 or 3.8 and get a water cooling system. I'm not sure yet, but for now I'm extremely happy being at 3.4 GHz from 2.4 GHz. YES, the P33 made a HUGE difference for me as far as eliminating my FSB walls and also providing SUPER STABILITY!
Thank you all! I love this thread!

Edit: Just decided to OC to 3.6 and the PC is still stable. Been using it like this all day with no probs. My idle temps on each core are around

Core 1 45c
Core 2 44c
Core 3 39c
Core 4 39c

and full load on all 4 cores is around

Core 1 62c
Core 2 61c
Core 3 59c
Core 4 58c

and I'm currently running at 1.49 vcore. I haven't tried going lower yet but at this setting it ran prime95 on 4 cores (In-Place large FFTs - max heat/power consumtion) for 4 hours and 2 minutes straight without failing. I think this vcore might be a bit high but my board for some reason seems to need a bit more voltage to stay stable. If this is a dangerous voltage please let me know. I don't wanna fry anything

Hey guys,

Just flashed to the P33 BIOS and its running good.

I have a weird question. I have the same 680i LT and board and for whatever reason I can only run one stick of ram at one time. A single 2 gig stick of OCZ PC6400 ram will work in any of the four slots by itself, but cannot run two 2 gig sticks at the same time in any configuration. Been stumping me since I got the board...

Anyone have any ideas?

Will be posting some of my new overclocking soon as well.

I'm hoping to push my old 3.0Ghz stable OC to a 3.2 or 3.4 OC.
Right now after updating from the P07 BIOS to the P33 BIOS, I'm able to get stable at 3.2 Ghz, but I had to put the FSB-Mem at Sync Mode, leaving my RAM a little unclocked at 5-5-5-17-2T. Just asking for some opinions on how to get to at least 3.4 OC, while getting my RAM to at least 4-4-4-12-2T.

Vcore- 1.38V @ 3.2Ghz 1424/712 (was 1.31250V @ 3.0 Ghz)
FSB - 1.4V
Mem - 1.8V 712Mhz(was 2.1V at 4-4-4-12)
nForce SPP (Northbridge?) - 1.30V
