You should put some of MNPC techs carbon fiber film on your white one as well... it will make it look nice.

Nice work, I especially like the white LEDs. It's also good to see you posting this, rather than bentleyra.

I wonder if the newer version G15 would be similar, I would also want to change the LED's in the display.

I know this is an old post, but hopefully you'll see this at some stage. Hopefully you'll remember what you did too. smile.gif

Did you do anything to the LEDs before installing to make them flat? The ones in there are flat & the new ones were round. Did you need to cut anything away from any surface?

Cheers.

I actually just tore down my G15 for cleaning a few days ago. The slots for the LED's have plenty of room to use a round bulb. I wish I would have seen this thread a few days ago, I would have went with the white LED's myself.

I think I'll be swapping to some white LED's in the near future. After seeing the white (and brighter at that) the blue just seems so bland now. tongue.gif

I did a partial tear down, well I pulled all the keys & cleaned underneath plus the keys. Opend it all up on a previous occasion to see why some of the LEDs were flickering or were out & saw some were dead & they were the flat type. You could probably just get brighter blue ones than what are in there if you still want blue, or red, green whatever. Yellow would have a good contrast too.

Awesome to see this thread. I've been considering tearing down my G-11 and replacing the blue LEDs with white. It's good to see they're not tiny surface mount components. They look like T 1 3/4 (5mm) sized LEDs. I have tons of them already. My eyes absolutely hate the blue LED color and I cannot read the keyboard in the dark. The switch to white illumination should totally fix that. I might even look to see if I can mod it to double up the number of LEDs.

Thanks for the look inside.

Oh nice.. I'm glad I found this. My keyboard must have some dead led's because it's pretty dark in the center now. I'm going to attempt to put in red led's.... hopefully they won't be too dark. =)
