Rock Band of course...
It basically has the game Guitar Hero in it anyways (different/better songs of course) plus drums and singing. It's really a no brainer. Guitar Hero is good, but Rock Band is more and better!

The better guitar game is Guitar hero, only because its more difficult which makes it more fun. The better game imo is rock band, a lot more fun and you go through the actual tour of bands.

Without question, GH3 is more difficult...even on Easy, there are chords, hammer ons, and really rapid changes that don't come into play until higher levels in Rock Band. Dragon Force on Easy was every bit as difficult as one of the later Rock Band songs on Medium.

But I dispute that greater difficulty equals greater fun. Apart from not being able to make up my mind on which guitar is better (I prefer certain features of both), I find that I just enjoy the Rock Band guitar gameplay more. I like the visual presentation better; I like the song selection better, especially the greater ratio of master recordings (the cover of Sweet Little Thing is Particularly awful); and the solos and big finishes are cool touches.

But most important, there is just something about the fret work design (the actual game play) just seems better too. Rock Band (up through Hard, anyway) seems more in tune with the music and rhythym, I feel like I'm "getting into the music" more; to the point where can sometimes catch myself bobbing my head or body, as if I were really playing in the band. But GH3, even on Easy, seems overly focused the "off beat" notes, e.g. in solos. So instead of getting into the music, I'm watching the screen for the exact right second to press a button. I noticed this more than once on Easy...I'm expectnig to get pretty miffed when I bump it up to Medium and Hard. I read reviews that claimed GH3 was more for "experienced shredders"; maybe this is what they were talking about, and I would like GH2 better?

That's a lot of words to argue that difficulty does not equal fun, but that was my point.

GH3 ruined the whole series IMO. GH2,GH1,GH80s were perfect games, a right balance of fun and difficulty. And GH3 came in, and messed up the perfect streak. Thank goodness Rock Band came in and saved the day.

ROCK BAND! Although i havn't played Guitar Hero 3 yet. But i think Rock Band would be better because its got allot more to it. For example : drums, microphones, and if you buy another guitar bass.

Having played both (So don't accuse me of being a fanboy ), I find that I like the set list of GH3 better, but like Rock Band's implementation superior.

The wireless controller of GH3 is great, and Rock Band's guitar has already proven to be faulty, and is corded (booo!).

I like Rock Band's gameplay better:
Hammer-ons are easier to spot
Background visuals are 5x better than GH3's (RB looks like an animated music video!)
The quintessential Xbox party game; up to 4 people can play

Having stated all of those, I would say that I do like Rock Band better. The fact that it handles up to 4-person multiplayer, the graphics are better and the setlist is decent, I would take it over GH3. But that's just my one humble opinion

I would say that Rock Band is superior in every way that's been mentioned except two:

1) It may be different because my GH3 is on the PC, but the hammer-ons for PC GH3 are MUCH easier to spot for me. Those glowing white tops on the notes make it easy as pie to spot. I could just be a freak though.

2) Rock Band is way too easy for people who started off on the Guitar Hero games. Expert songs in Rock Band are often comparable to their Hard (and in the worst cases Medium) counterparts in Guitar Hero.

Basically if I'm looking to just have some fun, I go to Rock Band. It's a lot more fun with all the people involved and the ability to switch up your instruments is fantastic. If I'm looking for a bit of a challenge, GH3 is always the go-to. Dragonforce and Eric Johnson satisfy my shredding needs quite nicely.

The thing I hate about rock band is the hammer on notes are slightly to picky and its hard to adjust from GH3.

Both are good games, and honestly after playing both, and buying all songs for both.., rock band is better because it has alot more songs. (129 on my game, with all songs downloaded compared to guitar hero's 50ish)

Also rock band is better because of this:
http://www.overclock.net/video-game-...-revealed.html

They actually are releasing alot of new songs, on a weekly basis, and also putting effort to improve the game. GH3 is not putting much effort at all.
