Disagreed. Any dual-core solution of an underpowered core is a cop out for performance. I will agree that it performs rather nicely in comparison to the GTX at the same price, but the GTX is a year and some odd months old. Just because Nvidia isn't delivering like it should doesn't somehow magically make the 3870X2 a better card.
Yeah, i mean, it's not like this is happening on the cpu side of things

Finally a bit of luck for AMD/ATI. Now if they can only catch a break on the CPU side of things....

:/ 3870X2 is a single-PCB design, really only shares it's dual GPU bit with the 9800X2, which is a redneck solution to the 3870X2 at best. It's gonna overheat and fail to meet expectations, thus marking it as fail from all the fanaticism, just like the X1900's.

I hope, for nVidia's sake, that they get this thing working right...if they bomb this, they're gonna be the ones picking up the soap for a year and a half while ATI rapes them.

Also, on a side note, I'm sure AMD is clutching onto ATI right now tighter than the headcrab on a zombie...their latest graphics solutions are selling pretty well.

These are already on shelves at bestbuy. I was there earlier today picking up some DL DVD's and briefly glanced at them as I was in a rush on lunch break.

so what they recalled, I have no clue. The source is also highly questionable.

Misconception. Memory Bandwidth (or video ram) isn't directly limited by Bus.

Xbox only has a 128bit bus with 512MB's of Vram. Yet it it's graphics are gorgeous at times. The 5900 series from nvidia had a 256 bus and was pushing 22-27GB/s. The 8800GTS has a 256bus and pushes 62.2/GBs

Source

While it can affect the bandwidth, they seem to be finding increasingly amazing ways around it. Especially since the change from AGP to PCI-e... If I had to guess, I think thats when bus size became less important.

People believe that the newer cards 9xxx series with a 256bus won't be able to utilize a gig of video ram. While again, that was probably true 3-4 years ago, it's definately nottrue now. Games towards the end of this year and next will use that ram, and your only limiting factor won't be bus width, but memory bandwidth. What the card can push out it's rear end. If a card has a 128bit bus, but can push +100GB/s, thats a card I'd like to own.
