Cons: does'nt even come close to the advertised speeds.Actually would rather heve my money back.Have 2 sata 3ghz drives running at 59mbps.that's pathetic

Are you talking about him? He thinks that because sata drives have an interface capable of 3gb/sec, that every sata drive will. This is far from the truth. He doesn't sound like he knows what he's talking about. I want opinions from knowledgable ppl.

How many drives are you planning on using? I don't know if a 4 drive raid-5 can saturate this, but one thing to keep in mind is that the PCI bus has a maximum theoretical speed of something like 125MBytes/second... I would try to get a pcie card if possible.

Prolly 3 or 4. Would you recommend any pci-e x1 cards?

McStuff,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...15029&Tpk=2300

This is the card I am currently using with 4 drives, in a RAID5 configuration. I get around 115MB/sec write, and 125/sec read speeds. Decent enough for a $110 card.

Thanks.
