Couple questions about SLI

post #1 of 5
Thread Starter
Ok, so i just upgraded from a 7600gt to this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127306

Now in order to sli do I need just any other 8600gt? Or does it need to be the same one? And will my 500 watt Antec Earthwatts PSU be able to handle it?

Thanks

You can SLI as long as it is the same specifications.

Latest drivers allow you to do so.

"Release Highlights:

* WHQL Certified
* Application compatibility fixes. For a full list of fixed and known issues please view the Release Notes.
* Mixed vendor support for NVIDIA SLI.
* TV-Out/HD-out support for NVIDIA SLI.
* Added support for VSync on Direct3D games when running NVIDIA SLI.
* Performance enhancements for dual-core CPUs.
* PureVideo high definition MPEG-2 de-interlacing support.
* Usability enhancements when connecting to an HDTV.
* Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0c and OpenGL® 2.0 support "
Depends on your other computer hardware for the power.
It should support SLI, and I would say that power supply may be barely enough.

Yes you only need another 8600gt(and the sli bridge i suppose it came with your mobo),they have to be same memory bus/memory size but can be different brands and clocks(the higher clock is set to the lower one so that they run equal).
your psu will be fine.
