Dual or Quad core? - You decide! - Page 2

I am thinking on going with the Q6600 now but I am iffy on overclocking. I have had bad experiences with a few amd chips. If I were to get a quad you guys think you can post me some screens of your voltage, multipliers, etc. ? I also heard that E8400 has bios issues.

and also do you think that the Q6600 on stock frequency would be fine for running games without overclocking it?

Sure we can, Q6600 can hit 3.0 with no change in vcore if that's part of what you are worried about....after all this is overclock.net right?

even if you're playing a game that only utilizes 2 cores, it's still nice to be running other apps in the background, like music, etc

Overclocking is a walk in the park if you just take the time to do it right. Plus the Q6600 has been known for an excellent, more problem free, overclocking cpu. You could do it easy! And your games would run even better

If you are gaming then the E8400 is the way to go.
I score as high as the quads on benchmarks so save some money and go with the E8400.

Get the OEM Q6600 though, since you will most likely be getting an aftermarket HSF on it.
Does the OEM Q6600 still come with a warranty? If not, go with retail.

Yeah, but it is only 30 days... it is 3 years for retail.
