qft, for gaming, you won't notice a difference. for benchmarking super pi, yes, but really, who cares?

encoding movies and stuff a quad will come in handy.

for folding, definitely!

I would go for Q6600. its a has good performance for gaming and easy on the wallet. Eventho q6600 is not the latest graphic card, but q6600 has slighly better performance than the newer graphic card.

And gaming dosent really depend much on the processor, gaming depends on the RAM you are using and most importantly the Graphic card. .

Oh wow, nice revival and Q6600 GPU fail.

I seriously doubt you'll see a performance difference with an overclocked Q6600 and overclocked E8400 in gaming.

I wouldn't go with a dually if your gonna playing the newer games that will be coming out. all of the newer games are going to be optimized for quad cores some already are (conan crysis farcry2 fallout3 etc etc...) and before to long they will be 8 able to utilize 8 threads (core i7) and any octocore processor that we may see in the future.

I can play every game out with my q6600 oced to 3.2+ and and 4870 pushed to 790/1100.

I have had both , and my e8400 eats my q6600 for lunch when it comes to gaming, or 90% of the things I do with my computer.

Alot of the time your wasting electricity to have idle core's , and they will not overclock
any where close to e8400 EO . I don't know what relevance 300mhz has like somebody says , but if you can only get a 300 mhz overclock above a q6600's OC than your doing something drasticly wrong.

***? this guy shouldn't be posting hahahha that made no sense at all, and your graphics card is more important than 8 gigs of ram.
