True, Q6600 will be the choice once the games and programs are written to support all 4 cores. But that is still a little ways off. The E8400 is your best bet for gaming since it clocks higher, and all cores are utilized.
I would go with the Quads if you are into folding and video editing, but for gaming E8400 is a great choice.
I think the Wolfdales will still be strong in games until the release of Nehalem.
But if you want to quad, wait until April's price drop, the Q6700 will be within $40 of the Q6600. The Q6700 is going to be under $300!
Waiting til April, could work. Might as well, since I start Firefighter 2 in March, I won't have much time for gaming. Finish with that in June, and by then we may have the new series of GPUs..
I just hate playing Crysis the way it is now.. its kinda choppy.
Wonder if I should wait on new hardware, and put the money into W/C so when i do pick up all this new hardware.. I can O/C it through the roof.
