BIOS/CPU-Z Voltage

Thread Starter
Ok first of all i feel like a right idiot... CPU been @2.85GHz, crashing down to 2.73Ghz sometime...realised more voltage would help =P [Was @1.425]

I upped the voltage to 1.450 in BIOS and CPU-Z Reads 1.475, which do i believe? does CPU-Z add on my .025v HTT Link increase etc

Cheers

For starters, 1/2 multipliers are not a good choice for overclocking. The board rounds up which will leave you with a lower OC with your HTT/FSB.

**Important note**
On all a64 systems it is not recommended to use half multipliers ( i.e. 8.5,9.5,10.5) because this will put your ram on a ratio which means it will be running slower then you think and not the same as you have your HTTFSB set to no matter what..

Secondly, get the latest version of CPU-Z and see if the readings change.

Tried with the latest and no change

I'll go N' try the 11 multiplier, but it means my FSB has to be waaay higher and ive only got a Gigabyte S-Series motherboard =/

we shall see though

The CPU/MB have power management built in. They will downclock when not in heavy use.

CPU-z might need an update to properly report voltage. I always thought there was a v drop instead of a v "increase."

AMD is funny sometimes though.

I have seen this a few times with motherboards, so it can happen.

Ho hum, back down to 2.85Ghz now, was just one of those flash in the pan overclocks =P I prob could of tried 1.5v for 2.9Ghz...but i dunno what is properly safe

i know some people have 1.5v, if my 2.85GHz crashes i'll go up to 1.45v =]

Btw...

Other voltages

HTT Link +0.75v
Other HT +0.75v
Chipset/PCI-e +0.25v

Shame the chipset is linked to the PCI-e, but would upping it help? and up it to what voltage if worth trying

Cheers again =]

Thread, i bump j00!!

I still dunno the answer to the question above this post, some advice would be greatly recieved, in simple form...

My voltages...

CPU + 1.425v
HTT Link +0.75v
Other HT +0.75v
Chipset/PCI-e +0.25v

Would upping the Chipset voltage be of any use?

Hoping to get 2.85GHz more stable, and possibly go beyond that. Temperatures are more than fine [I touch the CPU cooler with my hand every now N' again...is nice n cool =P]

And on another note

My timings are 5-5-5-15, would lowering the timings to 6-6-6-[What would this be? 18?] allow me to possibly overclock higher without having too much impact on my RAM.

And finally

Am i able to change my FSBRAM setting? Would it just be called FSBRAM in my BIOS..under which section?

Thanks =]

Haunt
