Loss of onboard mic

The other night while playing counterstrike (lost in game and 3 party coms such as vent/TS) and a windows update (blah dunno how it got loaded) I lost all mic funtion. unpluged repluged all my connections externally and tried another headset to make sure it wasnt the set... Speaker function is fine its just the in-line thats not working i have looked for new drivers but dont really see anythign newer than what i have.. so im at a loss any help would be wonderful...


sorry if this is in the wrong location best place i could thingk of since its running on and board for an amd...


again any help greatly appreciated

proly your onboard mic port went out.. happened to me not long ago...

Try uninstalling in Device Manager and rebooting.

sadly i have looked through device manager (drop that its the codec interface) and see nothing relating to my onboard except for codec only other thing i saw was nvidia device manager is that what i need to uninstall?

In the Device Manager under Sound is your integrated audio listed?You could try uninstalling your integrated audio and reboot and install again.Worth a try.

Only thing I can think of is to reinstall the sound drivers. You should be able to uninstall them through Add or Remove Programs.

Go into control panel and open Sounds and Audio Devices. Under the audio tab it should tell you what device you are using. Reinstall that one.

I have had 3 motherboards lose their onboard sound so far. 2 of them would work again briefly if I used the cd that came with the mobo and reinstalled them but as time went on they died more and more frequently.
