need help

today i recieved the parts for my new computer
so naturally i hooked everything up
but the computer wouldnt start

when i hit the power button
the computer boots for a fraction of a second and all a high pitch noise comes from the computer
after the noise ends an orange light turns on beside my ram

Hmm, are there any beep codes, or just the high pitched squeel? Do the case fans spin? What about the CPU fan? Do any LEDs turn on? Make sure everything is plugged in all the way, try reseatting the video card and memory, and make sure the CPU 4-pin plug is in.

Is the 6 pin PCI-E power plugged into the video card? The NVIDIA cards emitt a high pitched squeal if the power isnt plugged into them.

the 8800 is plugged in
the standby and ram light turns on
on fan spinning
but one of my led fans begins to spin just for a second after boot

Try another one of the 6 pin PCI-E plugs from the power supply. And by squeal, do you mean a blood curdling squeal that is extremely loud? If so, it is the video card making that noise (it is very distinct).
