Tests - MCP655 Vario vs Basic ( Pics ) - Page 3

Hey Joe I remember reading a test where a guy was over-volting D-5's and getting a heck of a lot more heat dump with them, and I cant find it now...Have you seen it? If you do link me, I've been looking high and low for it and cant find it again...It might of even been with D-4 pumps its been awhile...Nice charts...

I remember reading the exact same thing ... somewhere ... I'll post a link if I come across it.

I was ogling over Martin's charts, but I don't believe I have his software ... not even sure what he uses. May haps I can update the charts once I find out what he uses.

Thanks Joe, I've been looking for 3 or 4 months now and cant find it anymore...

Your chart looks fine to me, to tell you the truth I like the text better, I can see it all with one glance in text...I don't know what Martin uses for his charts either.....

Dang, now I feel really stupid for getting two basic versions. Oh well, at least its safe from failures.

Not necessarily ... it's quite possible I just got one piece of crap Basic model ... hard to say.

Anyway, I got this directly from the Laing Brochure -

Appears to show little to no improvement for the vario with increased voltage as far as head in concerned.

Maybe not at zero flow, but at usable flow rates it looks to gain about 0.5 gpm - not insubstantial... heat dump from double the wattage is likely a killer here though.

Welp, got a reply from my return request ... and they have given me an RMA number !

They want to check the pump over first, but I may be getting a new "B" model soon for testing purposes. ( crosses fingers )

Now I just need to get some warmer temperatures up here so I can run some tests !

Thats great...You'll be able to see if its a fluke with that one or not...If its not they have some old time pump performance there, slim to none......But I've seen several guys saying they were getting decent temp's with them to, so it may be a bad pump...Look forward to your results...

Still colder than snot up here ... snow all over and a low of 8º expected tonight. ( I'm on nights wed. and Thur. yet ... so I get to work in that crap too ... ACK ! )

Anyway, I plan to test my "B" pump one last time before I RMA it back ... just to verify my original findings. Hopefully tomorrow the garage will be warm enough for that to take place. ( I'm thinking Kerosene space heater time ! )
