<1w per hour. Maybe 4w in 8 hours?
Considering electricity is about 10 cents a KWH...
4w x 365 x $0.10 / 1000w = $0.14

So you'd be saving about $0.14 a year by switching your power supply off in the back every night. Granted, this is all theoretical, and based on a guess, but even if it actually used ten times the amount of power per hour while the computer is off, I'd still say that it's not worth breaking my back over to switch it completely off every night.

I can do that as everything is plugged up through a surge protector already however, as I'm using an Asus Maximus formula that double boots for stable voltage regulation. It's sort of a trade of between leaving the PSU turned on and using a few watts over the year and trading between possible power spikes (or wear and tear on components) E.G.. every day I boot up maybe three times but in the case of the Asus Maximus Formula that means 6 boots.

Sorry for going quite a bit OT there but that was the original reason for the PSU question.

I know most say don't worry about it but there seems to be no reasonably accurate explanation. Over here in the UK you only have to turn a 60W light on for a couple of hours and you seem to be charged (excuse the punn) your life savings. They don't call it 'Rip Off Britain' for nothing ya know.
