[CryMod] Crysis Patch 1.2 Features! - Page 3

I quit playing soon after release because the hackers started going crazy.

The game has lot of "potential" but it just does not deliver the things that make a game a classic i.e. stopping hackers.

Yea i hope so..........I've all but given up on this game due to this and other reasons........such as the complete lack of an online community.
THis game has an excellent MP aspect, but it's ruined by little bastards that use exploits.

On another note:
Two patches since this game came out..............in middle November. That's a joke considering the amount of bugs it has.
COD is about to release 1.6..........get on the ball Crytek.

What is being done is they are changing their game files (a quite easy task, I might add) to allow freezing with the pistol, flying, fast running, super-bullets, and the more advanced script kiddies have found a way to go through walls and shoot through any wall. PB can't catch this because there is no injected .dll used, and no program used outside of the game to allow these changes. It's the client-side files being changed.

The problem is not with security programs, its a problem with the game itself. It is FAR too easy to make these changes (I refuse to say exactly how), which was probably made this easy for quick modding. Modders don't have to go through such great lengths with Crysis to make a cool mod (like how Garry Newman and his buddies created Garry's Mod from Half-Life 2, which took a LOT of effort). Crysis is run from basic LUA files and XML. No source code to extract (or however Garry did it), because it's already there to mess with, and LUA is a very basic language, like HTML. It takes as long to get a hang of LUA as it does with HTML, and XML is even easier.

These "hackers" technically aren't hacking, because they are not getting around server-side settings. They are simply changing the client-side settings. They are SURELY cheating, but not hacking. Of course, as usual, there are anti-cheater cheaters who's sole purpose is to use their crazy weapons and abilities to combat the cheaters.

The only way to stop the cheaters, right now, is to micro manage the server (being sure there is always an admin present to kick/ban the cheaters, even though there is apparently no permaban option). Micro-managing the servers isn't always an option, so we just need to wait for a patch that allows a good anti-cheat option.
I think Crytek even left out an admin control to kick / ban!

looks good though!

I agree with hackers but you have to play on servers with admins (only a couple in the US) which keep things under control.... that's why we need an overclock.net server!

There's no excuse for people here not to play, everyone has uber 8800GT(whatever) cards!!

I'm not liking the enemy grenade display showing up :\\.

And there are still a bunch of servers that have people that haven't updated. They need to force an update to the latest patch to not split the playerbase.

It's done more harm then good with connection issues, random kicks, disconnects, etc...

supreme commander has 0 hackers bc files on every system need to be identical. Why doesnt CryTek implement some kind of system that compares core files on all client side machines and compare them to some std core files server side? any deviations from these core files could be examined via algorithims to determine whether they are simply tweaks or hacks.

I feel that if you are going hack the game then you should step up and only play against others that are hacked as well and leave the people who want to play it as it was made to be played alone. if people would do that then all that would be needed is 2 different servers. one for non-hacked and one for hacked, just keep it separated.

Maybe the driver had been down the garden centre, planning a new garden

Seriously though, that is awful

EA and the crytek team needs to go back and work more on optimization, consider making more multi player modes ctf and such, go classic!
