So then a better cooling unit on the CPU means higher operating frequency?? And the 8600GT will hold me back?? How? Won't I be able to oc the CPU as high?

Finally, will this Thermalrite Ultra 120 get me over 3.0GHz? And will it fit in my case? How about the Tuniq Tower 120? Will it fit and also get me over 3.0?
The GPU will not interfere with you CPU oc at all.

Both of them are pretty big, so make sure your case is huge enough.

I am not sure about the case you chose, but you can try the other cooler master case. If you search newegg.com for cooler master, and it it to the best rating, you will see the case. It is cheap and good.

I started a thread asking if i could go to 3 ghz with the same mobo processor. I easily hit 3ghz on stock cooling 60 c after 7 1/2 hrs of orthos 70 f ambient temp. 29 c idle
If money isnt an issue get a TRUE or TT120 I hear alot of great things about them. Im happy to be at 3.0 for now coming from the socket 478 its a different world. If you dont want to waste time, wanno go for the max oc right away, and have the money buy one of the coolers mentioned and itll be the last one you buy for a while.

Congradulations with hitting your goal.

Warning, you won't be satisfied wtih 3.0 for long.

I'd go for a 8800GT for another $100., the ACF7 is fine.
For the same price or cheaper, get the Coolermaster 532 case instead, it breathes so much better through the front panel. If you go that route, purchase a 120 fan for the rear.
You'll be pretty safe to 3.2-3.4g.

I did that, and I ended up finding this one, which is exactly the same model I have chosen above (I like that it comes with two 120mm fans, on the side and rear. It apparently has a blue LED light in the front. They had a picture of it in the dark with the light on, so I'm assuming this was to showcase the light, which isn't in the specs.

And where can I find the "True"? cooling? And which one's should I consider, and which should I avoid?

This is getting kind of confusing. But that's cool! heh
post #19 of 29
TRUE stands for thermalright ultra extreme 120, it's probably the best aircooler out there just search it on newegg.
And what's confusing you? The part where all tells you to get better cooling is just about the fact that the better the cooling the higher the overclock

It doesn't say Extreme, but is this one it? Or how is this one? Wow, every single Thermalright product is out of stock.
