It's really not so bad. First: prices in Europe are generally higher than in the states for this stuff. Second, the 500 Euro quoted price includes 17.5% VAT, so if you take that out you're down to about 425 Euros. Even assuming a US price equivalent of 400 Euros (discounted due to US prices generally being lower than EU prices) you get to an expected MSRP of $590, which isn't unheard of for an nVidia flagship card at launch. The bottom line is it will probably be priced in the same ballpark as the 8800GTX / Ultra were when they launched.
