what is up with this crap yo. i have a red x on connenction and when ihave windows media center open to watch movies it lags and also lags at random times and lags when i download things and install apps. and it has never done this in xp verison. vista is crappy right now. its worse then it was before.

i tried this with out sp1 and sp1 and get the same resaults and i have the lated driver for the my tv tuner. so its not that its vista thats wrong. i have to reboot every time for it to work again. then it starts all over again. whats the deal here?

More than the 4gigs that he has now?

maybe a 64 bit issue? I haven't heard of the ATI software working well with Vista and TV tuners.

What TV tuner are you running? The video feedback locks up? Or the entire thing is just a little slow? I botched installing SMP on my machine one time and it made WMC very slow to respond (only when doing something 'new' though).

Also, are you indicating that your network icon has a red X on it in the system tray? Do you experience network problems with other programs?

The more I read, the more it seems like a general problem. You cite that it lags when you install programs, and randomly locks up, and also stutters while running video. I would run memtest (you can do it without downloading anything extra if you still have your vista install CD).
