xxhaloownerxx, it's possible. The only way to find out is to test those settings. I hope it does work out for you though

Good luck

Bleh, ill try dropping those multies later, right now im a little "wierded out?"

according to bens, and doiltmans CPU-Z they have 3 stepping, and i only have 2.... wha..?

im going to drop my ht link right now... so wish me luck,

Ben, could you post all of your specs?

bus speed
mutiplyer
Vcore
ht
ht multi
memory

that might help me if you dont mind..

EDIT: also im noticing, the more i overclock, the more unresponsive my computer becomes, uh, has anyone else ever had this?

xxhaloownerxx, that could be a sign of an unstable overclock. Make sure to run Orthos for stability testing. I always recommend that.

Let us know how the HT changes go

Good luck

i ran orthos, it seemed to be fine, i didnt run it for hours though...

this happens whenever i OC my CPU... it just seems "faster" on stock speeds.

i changed the HT link to the one in the pic, 800 something... it didnt do me any favours.

Vcore - 1.50v
ht - 1298
ht multi - x5
memory - 1gb elixer @422 on 5-5-5-18

most of these specs were in the cpu-z validation screen?)

Though i have had my v.core at 1.55v and my fsb to 267mhz but i think 267 is the very highest i can go. it goes mental at 268mhz.

I haven't tried anything like using higher fsb's on a lower multi yet.. i dont know if my windsor in unlocked..?? anyone?

I have noticed what you said, the more i overclock my pc to the extremes, the more weirdly it acts.. lol

Oh and just to say, the stepping is just the revision, am i right? like i have the mk3 n you have the mk2?

xxhaloownerxx, I would run some benchmarks to see if the overclock made any difference. I would do some stock vs overclocked benchmarks and just compare. Make sure to run Orthos at least 8hrs at priority 9 with the blend test. I always run my stability tests over night and sometimes 24hrs.

Ben, kind of. The stepping indicates several things about the processor. Check out this link, hopefully it explains a little bit: http://www.cpu-world.com/info/id/AMD...ification.html

Good luck guys

i think its a good chip, JUST MAKE SURE, that your motherboard has lots of overclocking options, i think my motherboard is bottlenecking my system.

(also because i have USB problems in vista, ect.)

Also, ill run orthos tonight when i go to bed.... im just a tiny bit frusturated in why my overclocks are so unstable XD.

Hey guys, been awhile.

But, I'm ready to jump into the ice cold waters that is, AMD Overclocking.

I've gotten/fixed the following.

1. New CPU Cooler.

2. Got rid of bad RAM stick.

3. Made GPU OC stable.

4. Ironed out all issues with my OSs.

I will be trying to reach the ever so allusive 3.0Ghz tomorrow at around 1-2PM.

Wish me luck guys
