Lookin for some help reguarding OCing 5200+ - Page 6

Well, i ran into some unexpected problems considering USB ports, but now that I've fixed that, I've just started OC'ing finally.

Right now its at 2.73GHz, and I'm running 3Dmark 06 on it right now, will post scores in a moment.

After that, I'll try 2.8, then 2.9, then 3.0, and do a 3Dmark 06 and stability test on all of them.

It feels alot faster now, not sluggish like it was with that extra RAM Stick from hell made it, so i think obtaining 3.0Ghz is very possible for me! -gives self cookie-

3Dmark 06 at 2.7Ghz = 5676, Ouch....

Will be back in a few.

xxhaloownerxx, make sure your also testing stability with Orthos or OCCT.
With Orthos I usually run the blend test at priority 9 for 8-9 hours. With OCCT I believe the default stress test is now 1 hour long. 3DMark06 is usually used to test stability of your video card OC.

Let us know how the testing hoes

Good luck

Thanks Thlnk3r!

ran orthos with HW monitor for an hour at 2.7Ghz, (while i mowed the lawn) and temps topped off at 49C, so I'm going for another round.

This round: 2.8 Ghz, Bus speed: 218
HT: Auto
RAM:auto
Multi:13x

and on boot, my friend, the blue screen!

-sigh- i thought i had fixed my problems too .

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Tried BUS speed of 215, and refused to boot (Screen said "Starting up..." On the GRUB boot loader) Restarted, and now i'm in windows... guess I'll try another stability test.

xxhaloownerxx, if you can post up some CPU-Z screenshots of your 2.8Ghz OC. Make sure to include each tab.
You may want to manually enter in the changes instead of leaving them on AUTO.

Let us know

Good luck

Alright this is what CPU-Z says.

xxhaloownerxx, looks like your memory frequency is slightly above stock. Perhaps that is what is causing the BSOD's. I would drop the divider and see how that goes. How much vcore are you running at 2800mhz? Another thing I would suggest doing is running memtest after you make adjustments to your memory via BIOS. Data corruption can easily occur with unstable memory.

Good luck

ORTHOS ran into an error on Core 2, and stopped. bluescereened while trying to shutdown too.

Anyways, I'm back at 210, and my vcore is 1.3V, how does one drop the divider?
I'm still pretty new to RAM and its configurations.

So, Correct me if I'm wrong, but is 333mhz the maximum the memory can run at? Or?

Running orthos again at 2.7Ghz.

Thanks again.

xxhaloownerxx, well 333mhz may be the max frequency of your memory but we won't know that until you test it. I advice testing your memory later on after you have found a nice stable processor OC. For now try changing your memory from DDR2 667 to DDR2 533 or even DDR2 400. That will drop your frequency and allow for more room on the HTT (reference clock).

Have you had a chance to read any of the overclocking guides? Here is one that is very helpful: http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...ocket-am2.html

Good luck
