For one, it uses a little bit more RAM, not 3 or 4 more gigs... (this is not a huge issue, if this few hundred Megs of memory is an issue, you need more anyway...)

As for the bad part, here is where Microsoft went pure evil:
They published a report a few years back in regards to decoding hi-def content...

Unfortunately, i cannot find the article, but i originally read it on badvista.org (no i'm not a communist), it had FULL citation of sources and included DIRECT LINKS to Microsoft's site and their report on this decoding of HD

The long and short of it however was that HD only takes 1 pass to decode, but vista turns it into at least 3 due to copy protection schemes.

This is where a lot of the vista bulk/junk comes in. They now have control of YOUR computer, YOUR files, YOUR access. As for gaming, I have no doubt that games will run better in Vista, but at what price?
Paranoid much?

24GB Vista x64 FTW. If I load just about everything up on my computer and start playing Supreme Commander on the largest maps, I take up 8GB(at least a dozen Programs running with more still in superfetch)

Go post your slander elsewhere

On-topic: I would say XP 64bit or Vista SP1 64bit. they run pretty damn close with my current PC
Vista sucks. end of story. ITs a PIG of an OS
