I'm ready to see a decently priced (sub $200) burner for my PC and then we'll talk. I think that will be fairly soon.....

For me, it was not to much for a console. Especially considering i bought a $1200 comp just for gaming, and no i am not rich nor do i work a great job. Goto school, work full time and i saved for things and i still find the price reasonable considering everything you get. Also the PS3 wouldn't be any different than the 360 if it didn't have BR and would force developers to sacrifice content like they are doing already on the 360. It was just as important a gaming decision as it was a "pushing" a format decision. Also you can't knock them for including it. Why not include it? They won the "war" because of it, and now will make alot more money alot sooner and almost guaranteed a victory. Yes it drove up prices, but a year later they've already dropped the price to equal it's competitor($400) with more cuts coming soon hopefully.

Your post was useless. You only gave him rep because my post made you mad.

Im glad that someone getting rich off of you intrigues you so much.
I agree with that. I think we need to bring up the whole eliminating reps from news posts topic again. People should only get reps for helping people with their hardware/software issues/etc. News is a secondary thing. This site is not Digg.

Plus is does get annoying when you see 10+ news posts regarding Blu Ray.

can see where you're coming from, but again, if it annoys you, dont visit them?

you cant help the rep system. its not like unconventional repping is gonna become cause for bans. people rep when they decide that a topic author or other user in the thread helped them, or gave them some valuable information.

isnt that the point of the rep system? and if a news thread gives someone those benefits and a person feels the need to +rep, so be it really.

lol its only "rep" for a forum. it doesnt really account for anything in real life. does it?

While I agree that you shouldn't get reps unless you help someone with an issue. Can't really control that can we? And should we even care really? Of course that was not why they put in the rep system but you learn to live with it. If you don't like the topic, then just move along. I'm sure it will save you some aggravation.

I theory, yes. But another thing to remember is that the space wasted could be holding a new, maybe more important news thread.

Sony announced a sub-$200(probably $199.99) Blu-ray drive/burner at CES 2008. I think the release date was Spring.

I'll be getting that one...

Guys this is not impressive and this is not what OCN is here for.

Thank you to ElmikeThemike for posting the news topic and informing other members on the goings on elsewhere.

I have had to go through this thread and delete posts that where just so silly guys. I have not seen so many unhelpful posts on OCN in a while and I hope to not see it again.

The simple fact is IF YOU HAVE NOTHING CONSTRUCTIVE OR NICE TO POST, THEN DON'T.

Just because you do not like a certain product does not mean you need to run in guns blazing and start offending others. If you see a Thread named ''Blu-Ray'' and you disagree with the ethics of Blu-Ray then just do not read the thread. However it would not harm giving it a read as it may perhaps teach you a thing or two about a product you do not even like as you may find you thought wrong about them.

Also if ElmikeTheMike wants to post constructive news about PS3 and or Blu-Ray then let him, I do not see the problem with it until it becomes non-constructive.

We could sit here and moan for all eternity about something we do not like but what is the point ?, It does not get you anywhere either way.

This is OCN and here we are a friendly community that helps others and provides good quality information and news to all members. Lets keep it that way and keep the moaning out.

Thankyou, ENTERPRISE
