But if you read my post, the Neumann part was just a joke. For your use I'd recommend Shure or Sennheiser. The SM58 or one of the Evolution Sennheisers. Those are in your range. I can only speak out of my own experiences, like everybody else here, and my experiences tell me to use Shure or Sennheiser over MXL is possible. I'm not saying that MXL is a bad brand or anything like that though, just not on the level of the ones mentioned.

Kluit, I agree that there are better mics then the MXL available - however, if he does not have an interface to plug them into they are fairly useless to him. The MXL happens to be attached to an E-Mu 0404, which is why I recommended it.

Ah my mistake, misread your post. Thought he would get the 0404 and had to buy the seperate mic, to wich I responded that he would be better of buying a different mic. But when the MXL is in the same package for the same price, he's not going to find a better deal anytime soon I think. Once again, my mistake.
