[ExtremeTech] Big Performance for a Small Price—GeForce 9600 GT - Page 6

So the HD 3850 256mb beats the 9600GT 512mb in value until you hit 1900x1200 4xAA, but the HD 3850 is 14-35% worse in performance? I'm not really understanding this crappy review..

*edit*
If I'm reading these correctly, the HD 3850 256mb is better price : performance than the overclocked 9600GT 512mb...ATI still has a winner.

Same. I'm a Nvidia fanboy currently. If however ATi or some other group starts making better cards than Nvidia then I'll switch. I use to be a huge AMD fan. Now I'm a huge intel fan. To put it simple. I'm the fan of whoever gives me the best deal for my money.

What?! Didn't the x800xt and x850xt beat the poo out of the 6xxx series?

For the price, I believe the X800 line did perform better than the 6-series -but the lack of SM 3.0 really started hurting the X800 line, making them a somewhat unpopular choice. And the 6600GT stomped all over X700.

I don't think there has ever been a point in time where either company (Intel/AMD or ATI/Nvidia) has absolutely ruled the market from budget components up to the high-end. Even after the 8800 came out, ATI was still better on the sub-$300 market. And if I were in the market for a $100 or less processor, the X2 5000+ Black Edition is probably the only way I'd go.
