Looks good, is that a regular phone or is that a "special" VOIP one ?. . . also Is there anyway you could mount the thin client behind/under the desk? . . it would clear up desk space and give it a cleaner look. I mean they arn't accessed on a daily basis are they? . . . Then again it would probably be something better put off until the end when you have time.

Is this setup fully functional? . .if so how does you boss like it?

Talntid, I thank you very much for sharing this info! I am currently in my 3rd year of my BS in Network Engineering, and this is great! Exactly what I want to do, and from what I can tell, your plan has been great from the beginning, and I am enjoying reading about your work! Keep it up, and maybe we can share tips in the future

Regular phone for now. I am ordering IP phones next week!

The boss loves me, but this is not fully functional yet. it's about 80% there. I am waiting for 2nd server to show up on April 1... maybe I'll have to get another one if whe3ls doesn't stop drooling over mine.

Update:

Ok, Long awaited update...

Second server arrived today, but the rack to hold it did not. Disappointing. Oh well, it'll stay in the box until the rack gets here.

So basically, the VOIP system works over the Internet, the server is fully configured, and all that really needs to happen is I need to finish wiring up the thin clients and turn them on! Everything is getting real close to being ready for production!

If anyone has any questions about how or what I have done, ask away! Test my knowledge! I will throw up some diagrams later when I am finished with them so you guys can see what I actually did - it's not exactly what I had planned at first, but nothing really is at the end. This was a huge jump for the company and they havn't completed it yet. I signed the contract for the VOIP provider today. 24 lines, unlimited minutes, $830/month including the T-1... I also set up my laptop to VPN into the network securely, so basically I can administrate anything on the network from anywhere...

questions? thoughts?
