CD in drive options?

OK, so my new set-up has no room for an optical drive. The biggest obstacle is the games I have that need the disk in the drive. I have a few options and wanted to see what was best.

I have a USB bridge that connects to all types of drives. I was considering using this and just running my DVD drive from a shelf on my desk. Isn't there a limit for USB cable length? I would like to have it out of the way, so would need 4'-5' of extension.

Also, I have a 2nd PC that I have connected to a router. COuld I share the DVD drive on that machine and just put the disk in that drive when I play?

Or, I was looking into storing an ISO on my hdd and directing it at that. This seems like the elast likely way as I don't want to use up hdd space and I don;t imagine it is as easy as I think.

From what I understand, the disk in only in there for verification and does not have any effect on the game play, right?

First, ISO's can create some legal headaches.

Second, ISO's won't save you if you have to reformat.

You could look into a USB DVD burner, that will suite all your needs. I don't know what you mean by "USB bridge" but if it works with the DVD drive, then go for it.

My mouse has a 6 or 10 foot cable, so I think you should be all set for length.

I have wanted something like this and was debating on getting an enclosure, but I like the fact that this will hook up to almost anything.

Cool little device. I might look into it if it will fit under my monitor.
