You know that 8800 GT/G92 GTS is better then 9600GT?

Or SLI two of these:

Around the same price for an HD3870X2, or lower.

Personally, I'd wait a month or two and see what the 9800GX2 and 9800GTX have to offer. If you must choose now, the 9600GT SLI would cost about $380-$400 while the 3870X2 runs about $450. The 3870X2 would have a bit more performance specially at higher resolutions.

One EVGA 8800GT or 9600GT, then look into stepping it up later if you are not satisfied with the performance.

DUDE excellent find on the GT. You could SLi those for the price of a GTX.

I still think 2x GT or 2x G92 GTS is a good option but see if you can OC your cpu to 3G. Processor clock speed below 3G may not take full advantage of latest GPU such as 8800GT/GTS or HD3850/70 etc.

3870 X2. IMHO it is never a good idea to get the "budget" card and SLI it. Get the better card for memory/stream processors/bus speed.

Also Deliriousgtx...seeing as you're using a 19" LCD, SLI is not necessary. One powerful card is more than enough for a 19" resolution.
