Vista - My Thoughts. - Page 2

Sorry to hear about your luck, but i've been using windows for about 2 years now with no problems such as yours. Resource hog i do agree with you on, 2 gigs ram is a must with Vista which looks like you have in your sig. Task manager works better in Vista that XP in shutting down problem software. I've never had my Vista computer lockup to where I had to shut down by the power switch, XP i've had to do that many times.
Far as mulit boot partitions, I always used EasyBCD, it free works flawlessly, Google it and try.

I had a similar issue when my system wasn't quite stable.

Also if this is 64 bit Vista and your system is unstable, it will have issues much quicker than a 32 bit OS.

You are fine on RAM, I had that and ran Vista for a while, from what I have seen the 4gb really doesn't help more than 5-10% over 2gb.

Also, your Vista is fully updated right?
im like 99% positive my card isnt overheating, i could play bioshock for hours on end and ive never had an issue. ive also played PLENTY of cod4 prior to this and have had no troubles. and i have Vista Home Premium 32-bit by the way. and Vista updates frequently - set to do it automatically every day at 3am.

services.msc, not mci.... you could alternately just type services in a run box, hit start and type in services, or go to administrative tools in your control panel... there are other ways as well

Running Vista x64 here, no serious problems. I have 4GB of RAM. My Task Manager works perfect. Call Of Duty 4 nor any other of my games crash (other than EA games which ALWAYS crash. If an EA game doesn't crash that means something is going strangely wrong with it) The only minor thing is my Vista reboots itself for some reason when I leave it on overnight. If I leave some downloads on I can hear the Vista chime when it reboots. I think this is a problem with Dreamscene because last night I decided to pause my Dreamscene wallpaper and I woke up this morning and it did not appear to have rebooted overnight.

I've only run into 1 BSOD and it's because I had installed 32 bit drivers for my 8800GT.
