Vista - My Thoughts. - Page 6

Vista freezes?
Have you considered your computer may not be stable? Or your running bad drivers or betas?

COD4 and Vista should run problem free.

99 percent of the world doesnt dualboot 2 operating systems, nonetheless 3.
If problems arise they can't take into consideration the 100 versions of Linux and the way they handle booting.

Actually if he were to just use grub he wouldn't have those problems, I blame the crappy bootloader he is using.

actually i am using grub but for some stupid reason vista disregards it and boots directly into it self instead. so i need to use acronis to let me boot into either vista or linux, then if i choose linux, it brings up grub and from there i can choose linuxmint, vista, or ubuntu.

My sig rig is now running Vista Home Premium retail. I kept XP on another disk in case I wanted/needed to go back. It has been a month now and I don't see the need to keep that backup XP disk any longer.

Everything works just fine. I have Vista Home Premium on two laptops also so that leaves two XP systems that I need to upgrade over the next year.

I don't see any huge improvements over XP by the way. Once you get past the eye candy, it is just another windows operating system. If you want DX10 and anything new that comes out from this point forward you will install Vista. If you don't, you won't. But to say that there are some major problems or reasons not to install it is ridiculous at this point. It works just fine and I like the piece of mind from knowing that my operating system won't be holding me back from any other upgrades that I want to do.

If you want to get along to the future of things, install it. If you don't, then don't. But at this point please stop bashing it with old data that isn't accurate any more.

Did you quote the wrong post? You seem to be counter-arguing against something, but I never made an argument.

I'm not even going to read this whole thing.
You go out, buy a Gateway PC, and whine about its slow-ness with Vista?
Did you even remove the bloatware? Fresh install of Vista? I've NEVER had problems with Vista. I'd use it everyday if I had up to date hardware.

They have a right to do so. This is why:

vista is a consumer OS.

Most consumers buy a gateway, etc, PC.

Therefore, vista should be able to run satisfactorily on a consumer PC (gateway, etc)

If Linux can have all the bells and whistles using a quarter of the system specs, why shouldn't a $400 OS be able to do the same?
